Overview

Microsoft Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure, responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses, including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally. Position Summary

As a Focused LAB Support Hardware Engineer within the Azure SES and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team, you will support innovative projects and apply your expertise in a fast-paced, technically driven environment. You will work with diverse teams supporting first- and third-party designs in an R&D Lab environment, ensuring lab operations are optimized, scaled, and capable of supporting complex systems.

Responsibilities

1. Support various project needs such as hardware, racks, networks, infrastructure, racking systems, and power distribution.
2. Maintain server racks, network connections, and infrastructure, including troubleshooting and management.
3. Assist with OS updates and firmware upgrades (in-band or out-of-band).
4. Support liquid cooling solutions and monitoring systems.
5. Escalate issues and seek guidance from experienced technicians or management as needed.
6. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through reporting dashboards and systems for personal performance reviews.
7. Develop an understanding of cross-functional programs to support partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Complete required training aligned with job focus areas in a timely manner.
9. Mentor and support training of other technicians through on-the-job training and guidance.
