Support Engineer - Hardware, WWOS Global Physical Security (GPS)

The Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) Global Physical Security (GPS) team is seeking an independent, highly talented, fast-paced, and motivated Physical Security Hardware Engineer. This role involves collaborating with experienced Program Managers and Support Engineers to manage security technologies globally.

GPS is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing Amazon's security infrastructure and technical solutions. We are looking for an experienced Support Engineer to support hardware initiatives within our Global Physical Security team. Responsibilities include testing and qualifying new technology against Video Management Systems (VMS) and Access Control Systems for compatibility, integration, and functionality. You will manage projects to integrate third-party applications and hardware into WWOS Operations infrastructure. This position requires a customer-focused, self-motivated individual with technical expertise and strategic thinking to support physical security systems and processes.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Test and qualify new and existing security devices against various Video Management Systems (VMS) and Access Control systems, ensuring compatibility, integration, functionality, and quality standards.
  2. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to procure necessary equipment, software, and licenses for testing.
  3. Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve issues during testing.
  4. Provide technical support to internal teams and customers as needed.
  5. Implement and integrate solutions with existing physical security systems and platforms.
  6. Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., Physical Security, OTS, Loss Prevention) to align initiatives with global goals.
  7. Mentor and train junior team members on engineering best practices and technologies.
  8. Monitor and optimize solutions for reliability, scalability, and compliance.
  9. Create and maintain documentation for hardware engineering processes, procedures, and solutions, such as User Guides.
  10. Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security regulations in physical security.
A Day in the Life

You will manage multiple projects and security initiatives aimed at protecting Amazon employees. You should be customer-obsessed, capable of working independently, and able to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast-growing environment. The role involves applying both theoretical security principles and practical hardware and process implementation.
