Job summary

Cathay Bank is seeking an experienced AVP, Loan Portfolio Officer to manage and monitor an existing commercial loan portfolio. In this role, you will work closely with the Relationship Manager to maintain client relationships and identify new business opportunities. You will oversee credit underwriting and ensure adherence to Bank policies while delivering top-notch service.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of commercial lending experience, strong financial analysis skills, and organizational abilities. A competitive salary of $80K – $95K per year is offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Job description

Overview

AVP, Loan Portfolio Officer (LPO) is responsible for maintaining and monitoring an existing commercial loan portfolio. The LPO works closely with the Relationship Manager who owns the relationship for these accounts. The LPO maintains close contact with clients and leverages the relationship to identify and bring in additional new business opportunities, both in loans and the Bank’s other products and services. The LPO provides best-in-class service to loan clients while following Bank policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Work closely with the Team Manager on the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring and managing the credit quality of the portfolio.
  • Review to ensure each credit is properly risk rated based on the Bank’s risk rating system.
  • Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross-sell Bank’s other products and services.
  • Be specifically accountable for credit underwriting and origination of new credits from the existing client base, portfolio monitoring, renewals, amendments and annual reviews.
  • Collaborate with the designated underwriter, loan assistants and other loan support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report (CCR).
  • Review client accounts and portfolios to identify, evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action on potential credit quality issues to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the Bank.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank, regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on best-in-class client service while adhering to required timeframes from the client.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related discipline preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years corporate and/or commercial lending and banking experience with thorough knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.
  • Skills/Ability: PC proficiency. Good verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus. Organized and detail oriented. Good credit knowledge of Bank’s credit underwriting policies and approval process for assigned loan. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high production environment. Strong financial analysis and accounting skills.
Other Details

$80K – $95K / year

Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
