Position: Fluids and Mechanical Systems Engineer

Location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Support design, modification, and review of Propellant Fluid and Mechanical Systems at Johnson Space Center.
  • Work collaboratively to analyze designs, requirements, and verifications, and develop solutions.
  • Oversee design, development, testing, and analysis of propellant engine products and systems.
  • Perform engineering evaluations for fluids and mechanical systems.
  • Prepare and present design recommendations during engineering reviews.
  • Apply engineering principles to create component and system solutions.
  • Review specifications and designs for engine schematics and related products.
  • Demonstrate leadership, motivation, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:

This position is posted at multiple levels; candidate experience and business needs will determine the level considered.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Experience with cryogenic and vacuum systems.
  • Familiarity with Liquid Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Helium, and Oxygen Systems.
  • Ability to visualize and work with complex fluid and mechanical systems in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, Inventor, PTC Creo, or similar CAD software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and proactive teamwork skills.
  • Availability to support extended hours and weekends as needed.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center's processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of MS Project scheduling and reporting.
  • Experience with NASA's Engineering Drawing System Manual (JPR 8500.4) is a plus.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Design experience with space vehicle fluid mechanisms.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Creo, fluid and pressure systems, leak testing, and hardware handling.
  • Experience with vendor procurement and flight hardware testing.
