The Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Flow Cytometry Specialist to coordinate high-parameter, imaging, and spectral cytometers, perform QA/QC, troubleshoot with service engineers and develop SOPs. The Advanced Technology Cores is part of the Office of Research and supports cutting-edge research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience required.
• Flow cytometry and/or imaging experience required.
• Strong data analysis and instrumentation operation skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes cytometers for data acquisition, analysis, and QC.
• Provides instruction and guidance to personnel and core users.
• Monitors equipment usage, reagent supply, and billing time.
• Organizes educational events and creates educational materials.
• Processes and troubleshoots samples from various tissues.
• Analyzes and prepares preliminary data.
• Keeps up to date with scientific methods and assists in new procedures.
• Performs advanced troubleshooting with service engineers.
• Maintains inventory of reagents and supplies.
• Practices safety and handles potentially biohazardous samples.
• Handles special projects/roles in the core.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
