Job summary

The Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus seeks a Research Assistant 2-B/H to operate flow cytometry instruments in the Flow Cytometry Shared Resource. You will support investigators across OSU with data management, inventory control, instrument maintenance, and scheduling; assist with experiments, literature reviews, and presentation graphics for manuscripts and grants.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or equivalent.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in biological/health science research.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • Pre-employment physical including a drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

  • serve as a qualified flow cytometry instrumentation operator in the Flow Cytometry Shared Resource
  • provides services to investigators across OSU
  • assists with data management, inventory management and instrument quality control
  • assists in managing appointment logs and close out appointments in eRamp
  • Schedules EHS pickups and deliveries; assists in maintaining instrument maintenance records
  • assists design and implementation of experiments; performs routine research and patient sample analysis on flow cytometry instruments
  • responsible for analysis of flow cytometric data and multiparameter analysis
  • collaborates with investigators and research staff regarding sample preparation and data interpretation
  • coordinates scheduling and usage of instrumentation; maintains routine instrument maintenance and QoC
  • coordinates maintenance visits and troubleshoots instrument problems
  • assists in preparing presentation-quality graphics for manuscripts and grant submissions
  • locates and reviews literature pertinent to research projects
  • performs other duties as assigned.
