Job summary

The Floris Server at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond will join a team dedicated to delivering elevated dining experiences. You greet guests, take accurate orders, and serve food and beverages while coordinating with the kitchen to ensure timely delivery and a warm, professional ambience.

Reporting to the Floris Manager, you assist with seating and payments, maintain table settings, and respond to guest needs to create memorable meals.

Qualifications

• Flexible availability; Floris is open Saturday through Wednesday with shifts starting as early as 9 AM and last as late as 6 PM.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor with guests.
• Ability to read and follow basic restaurant floor plans, menus and instructions.
• Ability to multitask, solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to remain calm, professional and gracious in a high-pressure setting.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance during service.
• Ability to be prompt and punctual to shifts.
• Ability to use fine and gross motor skills and to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and sustain activity for up to 10 hours.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor; accurately take food and drink orders.
• Serve patrons food and beverages.
• Communicate guest orders to chefs and collect payment from guests.
• Assist in setting tables and rearranging the dining area for larger groups or events.
• Deliver a memorable dining experience by resolving guest issues promptly and providing attentive service.
• Maintain table settings, replenish utensils, fill water, and remove completed courses.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond politely.
• Perform cleaning duties at service stations, around the kitchen and dining area.
