Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services is seeking a skilled attorney to manage a Workers' Compensation caseload in Florida from inception to resolution. The role includes pre-trial discovery, drafting pleadings, and presenting defense strategies in court.

The attorney will collaborate with Claims and Litigation departments and may supervise junior lawyers. Requirements include Florida Bar admission, 3+ years of litigation experience, and strong research and writing skills.

Qualifications

• Florida State licensed attorney
• Knowledge of Workers' Compensation State laws and circuit court rules and procedures
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• 3+ years' relevant practice group litigation experience

Responsibilities

• Independently represents the Insured before the assigned Court and presents witnesses and evidence on litigated claims
• Analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conducts extensive legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies
• Prepares pleadings, written discovery, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies
• Attends and handles all case-related activities including full trial and second seating
• Provides timely communications and legal advice to clients and claims professionals
• Uses independent judgment, research, litigation and analytical skills
• Assists in developing training materials and seminars for the Claim Department
• Works with the Claim and Litigation Departments on special projects
• Communicates with Court, witnesses, opposing counsel and clients per procedures
• Responsible for prompt, efficient disposition of assigned cases
• Potential supervision of junior attorneys and support of their development
• Keeps current with market trends; attends continuing legal education seminars
