Job summary

True Drilling LLC in Gillette, Wyoming, is hiring a Floorman for full-time, on-site work on our oil rigs. You’ll join a crew on the rig floor, performing hands-on manual labor and support tasks as rigs move to new locations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of drilling experience, be at least 18, and able to pass background, credit, and drug tests. English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with six months drilling experience (or an equivalent combination).
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
• English language fluency, verbal and written.
• Pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test results are required.

Responsibilities

• Travel and relocate for temporary assignments as rigs are moved.
• Work on rig floor with Motorman, Derrickman, and Driller; assemble and disassemble drill pipe and run casing.
• Operate boom line and hoists to lift and move heavy supplies and pipe.
• Move casing or drill pipe joints to/from racks, catwalk, ramp, and rig floor.
• Check mud and carry 100-pound mud sacks; mix mud as directed.
• Repair drilling machinery, pumps, and derrick; rack tools and clean drilling floor.
• Gather drill cutting samples for geologists’ review.
• Perform routine and preventive rig servicing and maintenance when not on rig floor.
• Assist in erecting and dismantling rigs and related site systems.

What You'll Do:

• Travel and relocate for temporary assignments as rigs are moved; work intermittently for extended periods with minimal time off.


• Work on rig floor in tandem with Motorman, Derrickman, and Driller; assemble and disassemble drill pipe using ST-80 and tongs while tripping and making connections; work in tandem with rig crew and casing crew while running casing.


• Operate boom line, air hoist/hydraulic hoists to lift and move heavy supplies, equipment, and pipe.


• Move casing or drill pipe joints to and from pipe racks, catwalk, ramp, and rig floor as required.


• Check mud; carries 100-pound mud sacks from storage to hopper and mixes mud in hopper as directed.


• Repair drilling machinery, pumps, and derrick; racks tools, and cleans drilling floor around rig.


• Gather drill cutting samples for geologists' review.


• Perform routine and preventive rig servicing, repair, and maintenance, including scrubbing and painting, when operations do not require presence on rig floor.


• Assist in erecting and dismantling rigs and associated drill site systems.

What We’re Looking For:

Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent education with six (6) months of current drilling experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.


• Must be eighteen (18) years of age.

• Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
