Job summary

Harbor’s Edge Norfolk is seeking qualified Floor Technicians to perform routine floor care and maintain sanitary conditions for a senior living community. The role focuses on safe operation of floor care equipment and adherence to infection control procedures while supporting a respectful, resident-centered environment.

Candidates should have experience with floor care tools and a high school diploma (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience operating floor care equipment such as buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
• Knowledge of floor finishes, coatings, and maintenance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, and carpet extraction.
• Operate and maintain floor care equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow infection control, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times.
• Identify and address floor hazards; report maintenance and repair needs promptly.
• Respond to spills, emergency cleanups, and other environmental services needs.
• Maintain floor care supplies and equipment in good working order.
• Assist with community events, resident move-ins/move-outs, and special cleaning projects.
• Ensure common areas and resident spaces remain clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Interact with residents, visitors, and team members in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements

• Experience operating floor care equipment, including buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
• Knowledge of floor finishes, coatings, and proper maintenance techniques for various flooring surfaces.
• Understanding of OSHA safety standards, chemical handling, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to work safely in occupied resident care areas while minimizing disruption to residents and staff.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing daily needs.
• Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and strong attendance record.
• Experience working with older adults and an understanding of resident-centered service principles preferred.
