Job summary

Jobtailor in Connecticut seeks an entry-level floor care technician responsible for cleaning and maintaining diverse flooring surfaces. The role covers waxing, stripping, buffing, and routine upkeep in line with safety standards. Candidates should be able to read instructions, follow procedures, and communicate clearly with the team.

Basic training will be provided, and lifting up to 35 pounds is required. This on-site position emphasizes reliability and collaboration with staff to meet daily

Qualifications

  • No formal education required.
  • 6 months–1 year of experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require a valid driver’s license.
  • Complete safety and task training certification.
  • Forklift certification may be required.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Knowledge of upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform assigned floor care functions according to standards and procedures
  • Perform environmental services and contractual floor-care duties, including waxing, stripping, and buffing
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Work with other employees to complete assignments
  • Maintain a clean work area and assigned areas
  • Fill in during staff shortages in custodial, recycling, or maintenance functions
  • Support the shift lead with punch-list items
  • Use required personal protective equipment
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment
  • Perform daily upkeep and cleaning and maintenance of tile, carpet, and brick floors
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner
  • Use appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
  • Properly and safely operate and maintain equipment
  • Observe safety precautions and use wet-floor safety signs
  • Work without normal supervision and report safety hazards
