Job summary

The Davis Community is seeking an Environmental Services Floor Technician to clean and maintain all floors in the facility, including carpets, vinyl, tile, laminate and concrete. The role involves buffing, waxing, mopping and basic equipment upkeep, under supervision of the Environment Services Supervisor.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and basic reading/writing skills, with knowledge of floor care and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Floor care knowledge desirable.
• Chemical handling knowledge recommended.
• Familiarity with OSHA codes helpful.
• Skilled in buffing, stripping and waxing.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Ability to operate buffers, mops, brooms, carpet cleaners, power washers and basic hand tools.
• Respect for safety and resident safety requirements.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials related to job.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed.
• Ability to work varying shifts and manage time effectively.

Job description

BASIC PURPOSE:

The Environmental Services Floor Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all floors (carpets, vinyl, tile, lament and concrete).

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:

1. Clean all carpet in facility.
2. Remove stains from floors.
3. Maintain a safe environment at all times.
4. Buffs and spray waxes floors.
5. Mops floors.
6. Cleans cove base.
7. Minor repair to equipment.
8. Keep equipment clean.
9. Moves furniture.
10. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Environment Services Supervisor.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Floor care knowledge desirable.
• Knowledge of chemicals and their uses.
• Knowledge of OSHA codes.
• Skilled in buffing, stripping and waxing.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must be able to use buffer, mops, brooms, carpet cleaning machine, power washer, some hand tools and wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
• Knowledge in safety and resident safety.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials related to job.
• Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling and bending are required at all times.
• Constant standing and walking while controlling machines.
• Ability to work varying shifts.
• Possess the ability to self-manage time and take direction.
