Job Details: Job Location: Booker T Washington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation - SHREVEPORT, LA 71106, Job Shift: Day, The Floor Tech is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and restoring all hard-surface and carpeted flooring throughout the facility. This position helps maintain a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors while complying with federal, state, and facility regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, scrubbers, extractors, and wet vacuums.
- Strip, wax, seal, and refinish hard-surface floors.
- Buff and burnish floors to maintain appearance and safety.
- Clean and shampoo carpets as needed.
- Sweep, mop, dust mop, and maintain all flooring surfaces.
- Remove stains, spills, and debris promptly.
- Follow established infection control and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Place safety signs and barriers when performing floor maintenance.
- Inspect floors regularly and report maintenance concerns or hazards.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition and report needed repairs.
- Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned, including cleaning resident rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other facility areas.
- Assist with special projects, room setups, and facility events as requested.
- Participate in emergency preparedness procedures and disaster response activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Administrator.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous floor care experience preferred, especially in healthcare or long-term care settings.
- Ability to operate commercial floor care equipment safely.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Work Environment:
- Nursing home/long-term care facility.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and wet surfaces.
- May require occasional weekend, holiday, and on-call work.
