The Floor Tech is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and restoring all hard-surface and carpeted flooring throughout the facility. This position helps maintain a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors while complying with federal, state, and facility regulations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Operate floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, scrubbers, extractors, and wet vacuums.Strip, wax, seal, and refinish hard-surface floors.Buff and burnish floors to maintain appearance and safety.Clean and shampoo carpets as needed.Sweep, mop, dust mop, and maintain all flooring surfaces.Remove stains, spills, and debris promptly.Follow established infection control and safety procedures.Ensure proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.Place safety signs and barriers when performing floor maintenance.Inspect floors regularly and report maintenance concerns or hazards.Maintain equipment in good working condition and report needed repairs.Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned, including cleaning resident rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other facility areas.Assist with special projects, room setups, and facility events as requested.Participate in emergency preparedness procedures and disaster response activities.Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Administrator.High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous floor care experience preferred, especially in healthcare or long-term care settings.Ability to operate commercial floor care equipment safely.Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Work Environment:Nursing home/long-term care facility.Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and wet surfaces.May require occasional weekend, holiday, and on-call work.
