Job summary

Boxcar Bar + Arcade in Durham is looking for a Floor Team member. You’ll greet guests, check IDs, spot fakes, and help maintain a safe, clean, and fun arcade-and-bar environment.

No prior experience is required; personality matters. You must be 21+, able to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 40 lbs, and be available for weekends, closing shifts, private events, and holidays. Compensation is $13.00–$17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• ServSafe Alcohol Certification is a plus.
• Prior experience is not required; personality matters.
• Able to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Be our first impression. Greet guests, check IDs, spot fakes, and enforce age restrictions.
• Protect the vibe. Monitor floor safety and coordinate with bar/security for intoxicated or disruptive guests.
• Arcade first aid. Help guests with token jams and game issues; escalate larger issues to Game Techs.
• Patrol the floor. Keep space clean, clear spills, and sanitize surfaces.
• Open & close. Prepare venue for opening or closing, including cleaning and setup.

Our Floor Team are the reason the arcade and bar stay safe, clean, and fun. We're looking for people who can hustle, communicate, and are great with people. Prior experience is not necessary, but personality is. If you'd like to be paid to be a part of the good time, keep reading.

What You'll Do

• Be our first impression. You are often the first face guests see at the door. Greet them warmly, check IDs, spot fakes, and enforce relevant alcohol and age restrictions.
• Protect the vibe. Watch the floor for safety. Communicate with the bar and security teams to handle intoxicated guests or aggressive behavior before it becomes a problem.
• Arcade first aid. Help guests with minor game issues like token jams or stuck skee-balls. You're the first line of defense before communicating larger issues to the Game Techs.
• Patrol the floor. A clean space makes happy customers. Bus glassware and pizza trays, handle spills immediately, and keep the floor sanitized and looking sharp.
• Open & close. Help get the building ready to open or close it down. Sweep, mop, remove trash, set out tables, sanitize restrooms. You get it.
