Job summary

Job Squad, Inc. is seeking a Floor Care Specialist / Custodian based at our Main Office in Bridgeport, WV 26330. The role requires physical stamina, ability to follow directions, and compliance with safety standards.

Salary ranges from $18.75 to $19.75 per hour, with full-time hours and standard benefits. Responsibilities include floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, dusting, mopping, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and operation of cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written or oral directions.
• Physical dexterity to perform cleaning tasks.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Strip and Wax floors.
• Clean carpets and vacuum floors.
• Dust, mop, and wipe surfaces; clean restrooms and dispose of trash.
• Clean glass, walls, and fixtures; notify supervisor of supplies or equipment issues.
• Operate designated cleaning equipment and maintain neat appearance.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Floor Care Specialist / Custodian

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Crew Leader

Purpose

To perform cleaning tasks in such a manner that here will be minimum interruption in, or interference with, facility operations.

Essential Functions

Physical dexterity; fine and gross motor ability. Must be able to follow written or oral directions. Must be able to pick up and move objects weighing 50 lbs. or less; stoop, kneel, reach, climb, handle, and be capable of successfully carrying out and completing cleaning duties unsupervised.

Education, Training or Experience

No specific education, training, or experience in required.; however, high school diploma preferred. Training or experience performing janitorial tasks is; however, preferred. Government security clearance may be required.

Managerial / Supervisory Skills

No supervisory requirements, but may show another staff person how to perform a task.

Goodwill / Human Relations Skills

Has contact with the public; therefore, tact and courtesy is essential. S/he must demonstrate appropriate work behaviors at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Mental Effort

Must be able to understand and carry out a sequence of steps given orally, by sign language, or in written form. Work is well defined and s/he must be able to follow a daily and weekly schedule, must be aware of and obey all safety hazards. S/he should be willing to and capable of learning how to sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, lift, and empty trash, clean bathrooms, and/or operate designated types of commercial cleaning equipment. These tasks must be performed according to standards as described in the Scope of Work.

Supervision will be intermittent.

Impact of Job on End Results

Completion of tasks according to direction and in a timely manner has impact on the overall success of the contract.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Strip and Wax floors.
2. Clean carpets.
3. Dust, mop, damp mop, and vacuum floors.
4. Clean restrooms. This includes emptying trash, cleaning toilets, urinals, and sinks, filling dispensers, sweeping, mopping, and wiping walls and partitions.
5. Clean glass, stair rails, and clean walls in corridors and stairwells.
6. Wash lights and fixtures.
7. Notify supervisor when supplies are low or when there is a problem with equipment.
8. Buff floors.
9. Operate designated types of cleaning equipment.
10. Maintain self and clothing in a neat and clean manner and comply with uniform regulations.

Secondary Responsibilities

1. Attend in-service training as required.
2. Assist with snow removal as required.
3. Other duties as assigned.

Must be willing to work various shifts and weekends and holidays.
