Job summary

Shoals Technologies Group in Muscle Shoals, AL is seeking a Floor Manager to oversee overnight manufacturing operations (approx. 4:30 PM–2:30 AM).

You will be the senior on-site leader, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous production during night hours while maintaining safety, quality, and employee engagement. You will supervise night shift supervisors and hourly staff, coordinate with maintenance, and drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing or industrial operations experience.
• Prior supervisory or lead experience.
• Ability to work overnight shifts in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.
• Prolonged standing and walking during long shifts.

Summary

The Floor Manager oversees all manufacturing operations at our Muscle Shoals, Alabama facility during overnight shifts (approximately 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM, 10-hour shifts; hours may vary based on business needs), ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent production throughout overnight operating hours. This role serves as the senior onsite leader during night shift operations, providing decision making authority, operational continuity, and real-time issue resolution while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

Operations & Production

• Lead manufacturing operations across entire night shifts, ensuring sustained productivity and performance
• Execute production plans, monitor output, and manage labor efficiency throughout extended operating hours
• Identify and resolve downtime, equipment issues, staffing gaps, and material shortages in real time
• Ensure smooth shift startups, midshift transitions, and end of shift handoffs

Leadership & People Management

• Supervise production supervisors, team leads, and hourly associates during extended shifts
• Monitor employee fatigue and morale; rotate assignments and breaks as appropriate
• Ensure proper staffing levels, attendance, and coverage for full night shift operations
• Coach employees on performance, safety, and quality expectations
• Enforce company policies consistently during off shift operations

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a strong safety presence throughout long shifts
• Conduct routine safety checks and floor walks during all phases of the shift
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety standards, and PPE requirements
• Investigate and document incidents, near misses, and corrective actions

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor product quality and process adherence over extended production runs
• Respond quickly to quality issues to minimize scrap and rework
• Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S, and root cause analysis

Communication & Reporting

• Serve as the primary decision maker and escalation point during night shift operations
• Provide detailed shift summaries, including production results, labor issues, safety events, and maintenance concerns
• Ensure accurate documentation and clear communication for day shift leadership handoff

Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

• Coordinate with on call or overnight maintenance teams for urgent repairs
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and secured at shift end
• Verify start-up and shutdown procedures are followed during long operating cycles

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production systems
• Ability to work overnight shifts in a manufacturing environment

• Exposure to noise, temperature variations, and PPE requirements
• Strong leadership presence during long shifts

Preferred

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field
• Experience leading overnight or extended shift schedules
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies
