Description of Work
The Floor Maintenance Assistant position performs a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of State buildings. This position will clean and maintain various types of floor surfaces: wood, tile, terrazzo, and carpeted surfaces to maintain a high level of sanitation and an attractive environment. Employee operates a stripper, buffer, and washer used for floor maintenance. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating heavy cleaning equipment and delivering large quantities of housekeeping supplies. Work is performed under close supervision, guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. The work schedule is 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with some weekends as assigned. *This is a repost previous applicants are still be considered.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies
- Knowledge of floor care and cleaning plus the methods, materials, and equipment used to clean surfaces.
- Proven proficiency in the use and care of floor maintenance equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to work around patients and be people oriented.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Education and/or experience in floor maintenance work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
