Floor Maintenance Assistant - Murdoch Developmental Center

Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner, NC, is accepting applications for a Floor Maintenance Assistant on 1st shift. The role involves cleaning and maintaining various floor surfaces and handling specialized projects across multiple campus buildings. Work is guided by daily schedules and reviewed through quality checks and supervision. Immediate reporting of safety or sanitation hazards is required. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with some evenings and weekends for special projects. The position is mandatory, requiring overnight stays during adverse weather events.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing materials and cleaning solutions according to job tasks
• Cleaning corners, edges, doorways, furniture, and floors
• Stripping, buffing, and maintaining floors using proper procedures and equipment
• Vacuuming and shampooing carpets and rugs
• Moving furniture up to 200 lbs and maintaining equipment
• Cleaning windows as needed and assisting with weather-related tasks
• Performing other tasks as assigned by supervision

Qualifications:

• Experience with floor stripping, refinishing, and carpet cleaning

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 200 lbs, walk, and stand for long periods

Minimum Education and Experience:

One year of related experience or equivalent education/experience in floor maintenance.
