Job summary

OHIO METALLURGICAL SERVICE, INC is hiring a Floor Inspector for the 2nd or 3rd shift to ensure heat-treated parts meet specifications and quality standards. You will inspect loads, perform hardness tests, follow routers, and document results using SCADA, SpecView, and VisualShop.

Training will be provided; candidates with detail-oriented mindset, basic computer skills, and interest in manufacturing processes are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Inspect heat-treat loads coming out of our IQ furnace lines.
• Perform hardness testing and verify case depth per job requirements.
• Read and follow routers to determine inspection points and sample locations.
• Pull samples, inspect parts, and document results.
• Review furnace process data using SCADA / SpecView systems.
• Use VisualShop, our ERP system, to verify and record inspection activity.
• Prepare certifications for outgoing shipments.
• Ensure products meet customers and internal requirements before release.
• Identify and properly handle nonconforming material.
• Support hold and review processes (MRB) when needed.
• Maintain accurate and organized inspection records.
• Make sound quality decisions and promptly communicate any concerns.
• Coordinate with production to keep work flowing efficiently.
• Ensure required samples are sent to the lab, including rework.
• Communicate quality concerns clearly and promptly.
• Work closely with production supervisors, laboratory personnel, and the Quality team.

Schedule & Work Environment

• OhioMet is a 24-hour manufacturing operation, typically operating six days per week.
• Reliable attendance is essential for success in this role.
• Must be willing to work weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) based on production needs.
• Position is for 2nd or 3rd shift.
• Initial training will be completed on 1st shift.
