Indian River County is seeking a Floodplain Manager to administer and enforce floodplain regulations, issue permits, and maintain program compliance. You will coordinate NFIP requirements, reviews, and public outreach while guiding staff under the County Engineer’s supervision.

The role requires an Associate degree with 4+ years of related experience and a valid Florida driver’s license, plus a CFM certification.

Qualifications

Associate degree plus four years of experience in planning, engineering, or public administration.
Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification is required.
Knowledge of NFIP requirements, FEMA standards, Florida Building Code provisions, and County regulations.

Responsabilités

Coordinate NFIP requirements and review development plans for compliance.
Manage CRS program documentation, reporting, audits, and improvements.
Review Elevation Certificates, floodproofing docs, and related records for regulatory compliance.
Oversee floodplain inspections, document deficiencies, and report enforcement actions.
Serve as technical liaison with FEMA, FDEM, water management districts, and other agencies.
Prepare reports and recommendations within delegated authority.
