Job summary

Fairfax County Government's Stormwater Planning Division seeks an Engineer IV to provide technical oversight for floodplain management, NFIP/CRS participation, and related activities. The role includes reviewing studies, maintaining DFIRMs, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.

You will supervise advanced engineering tasks, support flood response and training, and manage consultant task orders in accordance with DPWES contracting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and four years of professional experience.
• Virginia PE or Architect license; DEQ Stormwater Plan Reviewer certification within 12 months.
• Valid driver's license; reciprocity considerations for out-of-state licenses.

Responsibilities

• Manage NFIP/CRS program participation and enhancements.
• Review floodplain studies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain FEMA DFIRMs and provide flood information to LDS and others.
• Respond to FEMA flood zone inquiries from residents and consultants.
• Review stormwater capital plans for compliance with regs.
• Oversee consultant task orders and H&H modeling support.
