Job summary

Maricopa County Flood Control District seeks an Inspector for Floodplain Permitting. You will conduct inspections to ensure compliance with Floodplain Regulations and approved construction plans, including regular inspections of sand and gravel mining operations.

Two years of inspector experience or experience in engineering/construction (surveying, drainage inspection, hydrology, plan review) are required, along with a high school diploma or GED and an AZ driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an inspector or two years in an engineering or construction field (surveying, drainage inspecting, hydrology, plan reviewing/examination, interpretation).
• High school Diploma or GED. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
• Familiarity with FEMA Standards or Floodplain Regulations and a valid Arizona driver’s license by hire may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and identify violations and compliance issues in the field.
• Ensure sand and gravel mining and new construction activities follow approved plans and Floodplain Use Permit stipulations.
• Manage compliance cases through the administrative process and track due dates.
