Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Flood (Water Resources) Engineer with expertise in riverine and pluvial flood modeling to join our Catastrophe Engineering and Analytics (Cat E&A) team. Cat E&A is an innovative, multidisciplinary team conducting global, location level catastrophe risk evaluations, developing independent models and solutions, and delivering quantitative insured loss metrics that inform underwriting decisions. Your primary role will be to collaborate with the Catastrophe Engineering and Analytics team to assess and present BHSI’s view of the flood risk for individual customer’s property portfolio. You will be assisting with flood and other natural catastrophe risk assessment to our growing global property book of business. Contributions include conducting flood risk evaluation using vendor models and internal tools, assisting with individual underwriting decisions, and performing risk accumulation analyses. As a member of the Catastrophe Engineering and Analytics team, you will also work across functional groups to refine BHSI’s internal view of flood and other natural catastrophe risks.
The base salary range for this position in San Ramon, CA, Boston, MA, or Atlanta, GA is $100,000 to $160,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
