APTIM invites a seasoned Project Manager to lead federal, state, local, and commercial flood risk and civil projects in the Gulf States. You will oversee planning, funding, engineering, and stakeholder coordination while driving business development and client relationships.

You will mentor staff, manage large program budgets, and coordinate with senior leaders to position APTIM for growth. Strong English communication and travel willingness are essential.

Qualifications

• 15+ years PM experience in flood control, planning, or environmental consulting.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of flood risk reduction and related projects with large program values.

Job description

APTIM, a leading engineering firm with a global presence and thriving civil and structural engineering practices, is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a Project Manager for federal, state, local, and commercial clients. The candidate selected will report to the Director of State and Local Critical Infrastructure and have the opportunity manage challenging flood risk reduction, civil works, grant administration and planning projects in the Gulf States. This position will also assist with marketing plans for growing our Critical Infrastructure business line and be a strategic addition to our well-established team of highly qualified project managers, engineers, and coastal scientists.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

The position is a broad-based project management position with a concentration in flood risk reduction projects involving client contact, marketing and sales, feasibility analyses, report preparation, permitting and planning services, at a minimum. Specific responsibilities are expected to include:

• Manage a portfolio of complex flood risk reduction, navigation, drainage, levee, coastal resilience, and water resources projects with cumulative program values exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars.
• Act as the primary client relationship manager for key public-sector accounts, including levee districts, local governments, state agencies, USACE, CPRA, and other funding partners.
• Lead all phases of project delivery, including planning, funding acquisition, engineering oversight, stakeholder coordination, procurement, construction administration, and program closeout.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, environmental professionals, grant specialists, GIS specialists, construction managers, and subconsultants to ensure successful project execution.
• Develop and implement funding strategies utilizing federal, state, and local funding sources, including FEMA, EDA, CDBG, USACE, DOTD, and state resilience programs.
• Provide executive oversight for project financial performance, including revenue forecasting, resource planning, contract management, change management, and profitability objectives.
• Lead business development activities, including client engagement, opportunity identification, capture planning, proposal development, interview preparation, and contract negotiations.
• Maintain and expand strategic relationships with elected officials, agency leadership, industry partners, and infrastructure stakeholders to position APTIM for future growth opportunities.
• Provide senior-level leadership for emergency response and flood-fight support activities during flood, storm surge, and disaster events.
• Mentor and develop project managers and technical staff while supporting succession planning, workforce development, recruiting, and retention initiatives.
• Establish quality assurance, risk management, and project controls processes to ensure successful delivery of technically complex infrastructure programs.
• Represent APTIM at industry conferences, professional organizations, client advisory committees, and regional infrastructure initiatives.
• Collaborate with regional and corporate leadership to establish annual growth objectives, strategic initiatives, staffing plans, and market expansion strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Similar Field.
• Masters Degree preferred but not required.
• 15+ years of experience in Project Management in flood control, planning, and/or environmental consulting
• Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment.
• Demonstrated ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English.
• Have a passion for working in a consulting firm environment on Flood Control, Planning, and Grant Administration Projects
• Experience with preparation of proposals, selection presentations and business development.
• Willingness to travel in support of business and project activities.
• Have the ability to handle multiple assignments efficiently and effectively.
• Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and with our multidisciplinary team of professionals and staff.
• Must possess a clean driving record.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $150-180K per year and depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
