Job description

Flood Claims Technical Assistant (Remote/Hybrid)

Overview

To assist the technical staff of a claims office in expediting the adjustment of claims. This position involves regular contact with customers, agents, and other claims representatives to support and improve the customer experience. All duties must comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Depending on the candidate and location, this role can be 100% remote or hybrid near our offices in Miami, Scottsdale, or Hartford, CT.

Responsibilities
  1. Review and coordinate correspondence from customers, agents, and others related to claims, including notifying the claim adjuster or examiner as needed.
  2. Enter new losses into the claims system and send required notices to relevant parties.
  3. Process payments and manual checks in compliance with FEMA and company regulations.
  4. Manage correspondence, mail, forms, and follow up on open items in the flood system.
  5. Maintain claim records, reports, and prepare files for audits.
  6. Handle check issuance processes and claims payment issues.
  7. Manage vendor licenses and assign third-party vendors, making expense payments under FEMA’s NFIP guidelines.
  8. Utilize multiple claims processing systems, including Selective’s flood system and FEMA PIVOT.
  9. Assist with vendor compliance and management tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proven multitasking and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Outlook and Microsoft Office
Education and Experience
  • College degree preferred
  • Experience in call centers or insurance claims (1-3 years) is a plus
  • Administrative support experience (1-2 years) preferred
