Qualifications

• Minimum of 60 college credits required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing assignments and instructional environments.
• Ability to follow written lesson plans and school procedures independently.
• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and sound judgment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all district policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school each scheduled workday and accept daily teaching assignments as determined by administration.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment that supports student success.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other assigned locations as needed.
• Take attendance accurately and follow established school procedures for reporting absences.
• Maintain appropriate classroom management consistent with school expectations and district policies.
• Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, and completed work to the regular classroom teacher.
• Utilize instructional technology and classroom resources appropriately to support instruction.

The Floating Substitute Teacher provides consistent instructional coverage for teacher absences throughout the high school. Assigned daily by school administration, the Floating Substitute ensures continuity of instruction by implementing lesson plans, maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment, and supporting students in meeting academic and behavioral expectations. This position requires flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff while adapting to a variety of classroom settings and subject areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
