Job summary

Hampton City Schools is seeking a Floating Nurse to provide flexible, school-based nursing services across the division. The role supports continuity of health services by filling gaps at different schools as staffing needs arise and patient complexity demands vary throughout the day.

You will work with school nurses, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to promote student health, safety, and access to education, administering medications and coordinating care during the school day.

Qualifications

• Current registered nurse license in Virginia.
• CPR/BLS certification is required.
• Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.
• Willingness to travel between division schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to students per laws, policies and orders.
• Cover for absent school nurses and ensure continuity of care.
• Assess illnesses, injuries, and health concerns and implement interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments as authorized and documented.
• Coordinate individualized health plans and emergency actions as needed.
• Maintain confidential student health records and nursing documentation.
• Collaborate with school staff and families to promote student health and safety.
