Base pay range

$23.00/hr - $25.00/hr

Position Overview

Join our dynamic and inclusive team at Landmark Preschool located in Westport, CT. In this role, you will work as a floating assistant teacher supporting our preschool classrooms: 2’s, 3’s, 4’s and Fundamentals throughout the day and leading our afterschool team. The ideal candidate will be flexible, approachable, and have a positive attitude. This is a faculty position working during the academic year. Hours for this position are Monday - Friday 10am-5:30pm.

In this role, you will assist all classrooms throughout the day by helping the head teacher implement planned activities and lesson plans, filling in as a substitute or for breaks. You will work closely with other assistant teachers to care for students and help them with lessons and activities. You must be able to interact effectively with preschool students, using positive encouragement and supporting the school's mission and curriculum. During aftercare, you will coordinate with all aftercare classrooms to ensure proper program implementation.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Teacher with activities and lesson plans supporting children's development.
• Prepare materials and set up classrooms for activities.
• Use appropriate language, interactions, and positive discipline.
• Participate in group activities and support during specials.
• Engage and lead students in learning and play.
• Monitor children for safety at all times.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor recess.
• Maintain confidentiality and direct parent questions to the head teacher.
• Support classroom setup and cleanup as directed by the head teacher.
• Supervise aftercare activities and staff.
• Follow Landmark Preschool’s policies and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience working with children; classroom experience a plus.
• Ability to move around actively with young children, including bending, kneeling, and stretching.

Hourly rate is based on experience, $23-25 per hour.
