General Description
As a member of the South Shore Stars teaching team, the Teacher Assistant helps ensure that each child’s developmental needs are met.

The Teacher Assistant will substitute for Preschool Center Staff and provide classroom support and assistance as needed. This position will be a Floating Teacher's Assistant, traveling between Weymouth, Randolph, and Quincy Preschools, so reliable transportation is required. This full-time role primarily covers vacations, time off, and leaves of absence in our preschool and early childhood centers.

Responsibilities

  • Work a flexible schedule to meet staffing requirements.
  • Implement curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining classroom environment, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor children’s activities individually and in groups.
  • Confer with staff regarding educational and social progress.
  • Attend staff, team, and curriculum meetings, training, and supervision.
  • Help organize and attend parent meetings and other center events.
  • Refer concerns expressed by parents to the appropriate teacher and share observations regarding parent-child interactions.
  • Prepare breakfast and snacks.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of children’s developmental needs.
  • At least one year of experience working with young children.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and fill in wherever needed.
  • Early childhood education coursework is desirable.
  • Warm, nurturing personality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs and work in a non-sedentary environment.
