Job summary

Tom Trese is seeking a qualified phlebotomist for a contract-to-hire position based in Washington DC area. The role requires performing venipunctures and handling specimen labeling and transport across DC and Maryland sites.

The schedule runs 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend coverage as needed. Candidates must have a phlebotomy certification, a clean driving record, and at least 2 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label/centrifuge specimens according to procedures.
• Collect and store specimens per established protocols.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Review physician orders and ensure accuracy with specimens.
• Package and transport specimens; maintain sample integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
• Answer calls and relay lab results as needed.
