Job summary

SWLA Center for Health Services seeks a Float Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining inventory and records, and complying with all laws and policies. The role requires travel among Crowley, Lake Charles, and Lafayette sites as needed.

The technician will work under supervision of a licensed pharmacist, handle prescription data, communicate with patients, providers, and third parties, and help maintain accurate inventory and records

Qualifications

• Must be Louisiana Board of Pharmacy licensed to practice and complete a minimum of one ACPE unit approved ACPR or CPE, or ten hours of continuing education each year as a prerequisite for annual renewal of license.
• Completing a Pharmacy Technician Training Program is required.
• Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification National Exam is required.
• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Must be able to perform essential duties and multi-task while maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Translate prescription information from providers’ orders.
• Enter prescription data into pharmacy software with accuracy.
• Inform pharmacist on duty of any contradictions or issues from drug utilization reviews.
• Monitor third party rejections or cost-related signals.
• Perform prescriptions filling functions as per Louisiana Board of Pharmacy laws and Regulations.
• Observe inventory and create/modify wholesaler purchase orders online.
• Monitor inventory for expirations or overstock.
• Prepare wholesaler returns.
• Perform register functions as necessary.
• Communicate with patients regarding prescriptions requests.
• Act as a liaison between providers and patients.
• Communicate with third parties on behalf of patients with prescriptions concerns.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
• Assume additional duties to ensure quality health services are rendered.
