Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Nursing Resource Pool (NRP). This role supports nursing staff by delivering direct patient care across multiple inpatient units in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have a Texas CNA license, a high school diploma, and at least two years of inpatient experience. The position includes rotating shifts with weekends and holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Active Texas CNA license required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
• Minimum of two years of inpatient/acute care experience.
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and support under nursing supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, and comfort.
• Perform 1:1 observation for agitated or vulnerable patients.
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Document care activities accurately and promptly.
• Float to different inpatient units each shift, potentially multiple times.
