Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN is hiring a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff with patient care in ambulatory settings.

You will take vital signs, assist with daily living activities, maintain supplies, and help prepare patient treatment areas under RN/LPN supervision. This is a 40-hour, day-shift position with no weekends or holidays and a union environment.

Qualifications

• Must have good human relations and communication skills.
• Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse.
• Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical duties as delegated within roles and responsibilities, personalized training and competency, and needs of specific ambulatory setting.
• Assist with taking vital signs.
• Maintain stock of medical supplies needed for registered nurse or physician.
• Complies with all patient duties assigned.
• The Nursing Assistant serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Provide assistance with basic health care needs including rooming the patients, daily living activities; emotional and spiritual needs.
• Will collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Clean patient areas or treatment rooms.
