Detroit Institute of Arts is seeking a Laboratory Medical Assistant Floater to support clinicians across offices, performing phlebotomy and lab testing, and assisting with patient intake and documentation.

This flexible float role requires strong attention to quality control, patient communication, and adaptability to different clinical stations, with on-site responsibilities in pediatric and general patient care contexts.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of healthcare experience required.

Responsabilités

• Performs laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology and Spirometry.
• Performs phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
• Prepares specimens for reference lab, labeling, resulting and billing info.
• Performs and documents daily/weekly/monthly quality control and instrument maintenance.
• Collects vitals and reports abnormal findings to clinician.
• Interviews patient and documents history, meds, allergies and other data.
• Obtains records for clinician review and follow-up.
• Prepares patient for examination and ensures orders are executed.
• Assists clinicians with vision/hearing screenings, ECGs, minor procedures as supervised.
• Documents vaccine/medication reconciliation and education.
• Completes follow-up tasks and coordinates referrals and forms; supports travel as needed.
• Able to float and adapt to a flexible location schedule.
