Job summary

YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a Floating Director of Early Learning to provide hands-on leadership across multiple Early Learning centers in Beverly, MA. You will support staff, ensure licensing compliance, and create a safe, welcoming environment for children and families.

In this role, you’ll cover centers during leadership absences and transitions, coordinating with permanent Directors and executive leaders to maintain high-quality care and program operations across locations.

Qualifications

• Must meet Massachusetts EEC and New Hampshire licensing requirements for a Director.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, evaluating, and supporting staff.
• Knowledge of child growth and development from infancy through kindergarten.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership at assigned Early Learning centers to maintain safe, stable, and effective operations.
• Support classroom routines, curriculum implementation, developmentally appropriate practices, and positive behavior guidance.
• Work directly with children, educators, and families to identify needs and address operational challenges.
• Coordinate transitions with permanent Directors and Executive Directors to ensure continuity and follow‑up on outstanding priorities.
• Review and adjust staffing schedules, classroom assignments, breaks, and coverage to maintain licensing ratios and active supervision.
