LOGAN HOCKING LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Floater Bus Driver to cover routes on a rotating basis, 5 days a week, 4.25 hours daily. The position mirrors a regular route driver but with no fixed route.

Hours include 5:30–7:45 am and 2:00–4:00 pm, with total time of 4 hours 15 minutes. Applicants must meet state qualifications, hold a valid CDL/driver certification, and pass required checks and drug tests.

Qualifications

  • Be 21 years old with a minimum of two years driving experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Being physically qualified (rule 3301-83-07 of the Administrative Code).
  • Completion of semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education for which records shall be maintained by the employer and/or school district for a minimum of six years.
  • School bus drivers with any of the following shall be disqualified from operating a school bus: more than six points last two years; a DUI in last ten years; two serious traffic violations in past two years; any railroad crossing violation in the past year.
  • Holding school bus driver certification from O.D.E. and Logan-Hocking School District.
  • Completing pre-service and in-service training (rule 3301-83-10 of Administrative Code).
  • Physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary.
  • Participation in drug and alcohol testing as mandated by FMCSA (49 C.F.R.382).
  • Must maintain eligibility of insurance coverage of the school district fleet insurance carrier.
  • Must have good attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive buses punctually on regularly scheduled routes.
  • Drive on approved non-routine/extracurricular trips as required.
  • Maintain a clean bus.
  • Inspect bus as required by Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation and Safety Rules.
  • Report bus defects to mechanics on the work order form.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Develop and enforce student seating chart.
  • Maintain and report all discipline incidents.
  • Assist as needed with handicapped students.
  • Promote positive public relations.
  • Operate buses only for approved school functions.
  • Report all accidents and complete all required reports.
  • Request service for vehicle ahead of maintenance.
  • Transport only authorized students to and from Board approved stops.
  • Fuel vehicle as required by regulations.
  • Maintain over a half tank of fuel after route.
  • Perform student check and post-route bus condition checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor.
