Job summary

LOGAN-HOCKING SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Bus Driver for the 5-day, 5.5-hour route (Tri-County). Shift times are 5:35 AM start, with end times at 8:20 AM and 4:15 PM, totaling 5 hours 30 minutes daily.

The position requires Ohio licensure requirements, a minimum of two years driving experience, and the ability to transport students safely, including handicapped students, while maintaining discipline and a positive public image.

Qualifications

• Be 21 years old with a minimum of two years driving experience.
• Possess either a high school diploma or GED.
• Being physically qualified (rule 3301-83-07 of the Administrative Code).
• Completion of semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education for which records shall be maintained by the employer and/or school district for a minimum of six years.

Responsibilities

• Drive buses punctually on regularly scheduled routes.
• Drive on approved non-routine/extracurricular trips as required.
• Maintain a clean bus.
• Inspect bus as required by Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation and Safety Rules and document on a form provided.
• Report bus defects to mechanics on the work order form.
• Obey all traffic laws.
• Develop and enforce student-seating chart.
• Maintain and report all discipline incidents in an appropriate manner.
• Assist as needed with handicapped students.
• Promote positive public relations.
• Operate buses only for approved school functions.
• Report all accidents and complete all required reports.
• Request service for vehicle at least two days in advance of scheduled maintenance.
• Transport only authorized students to and from Board approved bus stops and routes.
• Fuel vehicle as required by operational regulations.
• Maintain over a half tank of fuel when parking vehicle after route.
• Perform student check and check bus condition following each route.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor.
