Job summary

Acelero Learning Camden Philadelphia is seeking a Floater Assistant Teacher to support a Lead Teacher in a Head Start classroom, helping implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children ages 0-5.

You will collaborate with a team of teachers and families to promote learning, behavior support, and safe, inclusive environments while meeting regulatory requirements. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• CDA or enrolled to complete within 2 years, or a degree in any field or enrollment in a program leading to such degree
• Prior experience with children 0-5 years
• Physical exam and background checks are required

Responsibilities

• Uses knowledge of child growth and development to work with children in Head Start.
• Maintains a child-centered curriculum and learning environment encouraging positive social interaction and engagement.
• Plans and implements learning experiences to advance intellectual and physical development, literacy, numeracy and language skills.
• Addresses challenging behaviors by observation, preventive measures, teaching social and communication skills, and family partnership.
• Uses observations and notes to document progress and individualize curriculum.
• Encourages family involvement and supports relationships between children and families.
• Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Supports social and emotional development of children.
• Communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participates in meetings, events and training as required
