General Characteristics

Learn to operate safely and effectively the unwind and rewind end of the press. Assist the first assistant in meeting or exceeding goals related to Safety, Quality, Cost, Production, Environmental, and Housekeeping.

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Special License/Certification Required

PIT certificate, Crane certificate, general assessments test, O.L.R. trained, and advanced Flexo training.

Safety

• Aim for zero accidents, with specific safety engagement goals

• Inspect web and tear sheets during shifts

Cost Management

• Reduce waste and reject rolls
• Monitor and control ink, core, and plate costs
• Optimize setup and production activities

Production

• Meet or exceed production targets, including speed, downtime, and waste
• Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance
• Prepare for upcoming jobs efficiently
• Ensure quality and proper setup during runs

Environmental and Workplace Organization

• Maintain compliance with environmental standards
• Properly label and dispose of chemicals and waste
• Keep the work area clean and organized
• Operate cleaning equipment like Zamboni as needed

Plateroom and Mounting

• Assist with sleeve and cylinder prep and mounting
• Organize and communicate with the plate room

Operational Excellence

• Engage actively in OpEx initiatives
• Attend all team meetings
• Optional participation in the Yellow Belt program
