Job Description: Respiratory Care Practitioner - Off Campus Emergency Department

Position Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for delivering skilled respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies. This role requires advanced practitioner skills for independent intervention in complex patient care situations, including ventilator management, diagnostic procedures, and clinical evaluations tailored to patient age and needs. The position operates independently with limited supervision, interacting with internal staff and external healthcare providers.

Additional Expectations in OCED

Assist Registered Nurses or Licensed Independent Practitioners in patient care activities within scope of practice, including:

• Assisting providers with procedures
• Rooming patients in the ED, recording vital signs and documentation
• Performing EKGs, IV starts, lab draws, and phlebotomy as requested
• Providing patient and family education as needed

Requirements

• Graduate of AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy Training program
• Registered (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in Washington State
• Registry eligibility to sit for RRT exam from NBRC
• ACLS, NRP, or PALS certification within 90 days of hire, depending on patient population
• Health Care Provider CPR certification
• At least one year of acute care respiratory therapy experience; CRT experience preferred
