Job summary

MaineGeneral Health System is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide skilled physical therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. This position floats between Gray Birch and Glenridge, delivering care across both locations to support mobility and independence.

The PTA will implement treatment plans, monitor responses, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the care team to ensure coordinated, high-quality therapy services.

Qualifications

• Implements individualized treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Monitors patient responses to treatment and communicates changes to the supervising PT.
• Documents treatments and progress toward goals in a timely manner.
• Educates patients and families on exercises, safety and independence strategies.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintains flexibility in scheduling and location based on patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Implements treatment plans established by the supervising PT using appropriate techniques.
• Monitors patient responses, documents progress, and communicates plan changes.
• Documents treatments provided and progress toward goals accurately.
• Educates patients and families on exercises, mobility techniques, safety, and progress strategies.
• Assists with discharge planning and recommendations for equipment and resources.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team for high-quality patient care.
• Provides services at Gray Birch and Glenridge, adapting to each location's needs.
• Maintains scheduling flexibility to support staffing and continuity of care.
