Job summary

MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Float Pool on a 12-hour night shift. You will deliver patient-centered care across units, ensuring safety and quality in a Catholic, not-for-profit community hospital setting.

The role requires an ADN, IA RN license, BLS; ACLS if telemetry; strong communication and critical thinking; and you will join a mission-driven health system focused on compassionate care and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN is preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license or compact license recognized by IA.
• AHA BLS is required.
• ACLS is required only if the unit has telemetry capabilities.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Strong language, math, and critical thinking abilities.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, RN Float Pool at MercyOne, you will serve as a clinician, team member, and professional and practices under these roles according to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (2004). The Registered Professional Nurse is accountable for the delivery of evidence-based, safe, efficient and family centered care in order to achieve the Mission of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and the Vision of Patient Care Services.

• Practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined in the Iowa Nurse Practice Act (2006); retains accountability for one’s own nursing practice.
• Responsible for planning, assessing, intervening, co-coordinating and providing direct patient care by utilizing critical thinking skills.
• Communicates with physicians, ancillary care-givers, patients and families regarding the patient’s plan of care.
• Fulfill the responsibility of holistic (body, mind and spirit) nursing care based on the mission, vision and values of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center.
• Performs assessments including physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.

Schedule:

• 7:00 pm – 7:30 am; every third weekend; holiday rotation

General Requirements:

• Associate degreein nursingrequired

• Bachelor of Science inNursing (BSN)preferred.

• Current Iowa RNlicense or compact RN license recognized by the state of IA

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)required

• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)requiredonly if the unit has telemetrymonitorcapabilities

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire

• High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability

• Basic computer skillsrequired

Education:

• Associate’s degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
