Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool Team. This 36-hour-per-week role involves three 12-hour day shifts (6:45am - 7:15pm) across units, with weekend and holiday rotation to support service excellence.

The position emphasizes patient care planning, monitoring, cross-disciplinary collaboration, education for patients and families, and potential precepting of students and new hires within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion.
• At least 1 year of RN experience, strongly preferred.
• Charge RN experience, or willingness to train to Charge RN duties, preferred.
• Willingness to cross-train to many departments and achieve multiple competencies.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Educates patient/family appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
