Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Associate to assist in patient care across Critical Care and Med/Surg units during nights (7pm–7am). This is a full-time float pool position at Mercy STL Ballas Campus with a 3,12-hour shift pattern.

The role includes hands-on patient care, vital signs, enteral feeding, wound care, and post procedures while training through an accredited 175-hour program with required certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPTC or currently enrolled in a healthcare program.
• Mercy employee status is considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and document in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with patient care needs: meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation.
• Provide mobility assistance and patient transport as needed.
• Perform PCA duties, enteral feeding, wound care, IV/Foley removal.
• Support clerical tasks and adapt to multiple units per shift.

Education

• Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program
• Gain hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment
• Mercy provides a required 175-hour training program that meets Department of Health and Senior Services requirements
• Training is completed during new hire orientation and must be finished within 90 days
• BLS required within 1 month of hire
• PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire

Responsibilities For Patient Care Technician (PCT)

• Perform all PCA job duties
• Phlebotomy / blood cultures
• Enteral feeding
• Wound care
• IV / Foley removal
• Tracheostomy care & suctioning

Training

• Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program
• Gain hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment

No Experience? No Problem!

• Mercy provides a required 175-hour training program that meets Department of Health and Senior Services requirements
• Training is completed during new hire orientation and must be finished within 90 days
