Job summary

Family First Health in York County, PA, is seeking a Float Pool Medical Assistant for a full-time position (40 hours/week) based at our George Street Medical location. The role involves direct patient care in ambulatory settings and requires flexibility to travel to multiple FFH sites as needed.

Successful candidates will have completed a Medical Assistant program with at least one year of experience, CPR certification, and basic computer skills for EHR documentation.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program with at least one year of prior Medical Assistant experience
• Current CPR certification
• Narcan training required upon hire
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology
• English proficiency required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

• Travels and reports to work at multiple locations based on scheduling needs
• Accurately obtains and documents chief complaint for patient visit, vitals, allergies, etc.
• Prepares exam room and patient for visits
• Collects specimens and handles processing and transport to lab
• Performs orders/instructions by provider/standing order
• Documents all aspects of patient care in the EHR
• Administers medications, injections, and immunizations as directed
• Provides patient education and ensures understanding of illness/treatment
• Completes pre-visit chart prep and participates in daily huddles
• Manages daily patient flow and prioritizes tasks
• Completes referrals, scheduling, and prior authorizations
• Reviews labs/x-rays and follows up on urgent results
• Maintains medical supply inventory and stocking
• Handles instruments and maintains equipment per guidelines
• Performs opening/closing procedures and cash handling
• Maintains clinical competencies and licensure
• Greet and register patients; collect demographic/insurance data
• Assists patients with reduced fee program applications
• Answers calls and processes messages
• Processes and resolves billing/insurance questions
• Schedules appointments in the EHR
• Maintains knowledge of health insurances and payer types
• Accurately classifies documents in the EHR
• Performs other duties as assigned
