Job summary

Duke Primary Care Float Pool in Durham, NC is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses for a float/travel position. Open 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. You will administer medications, provide direct patient care under supervision, and assist in diagnostic procedures while supporting care teams across clinics.

Applicants must have a Practical Nurse program credential and NC LPN licensure (or compact). No prior experience required; BLS and sterile technique knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• Clear communication with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team.
• Ability to use computers and learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed and maintain records.
• Provide direct patient care under supervision of nurse or doctor.
• Follow care plans and nursing orders; report responses to care to a nurse for adjustments.
• Assist in diagnostic procedures and clinical tasks.
• Assist in managing supplies and equipment; report malfunctions to charge nurse.
• Participate in training programs and help train new staff.
