Job summary

GI Associates in southeastern Wisconsin is seeking motivated people to join our growing gastroenterology practice as Float/Pool GI Techs. The GI Technician assists in data collection for objective assessments by the RN, maintains scopes and reprocessing, and supports post-procedure information management.

This role requires hands-on patient care support, proper handling of endoscopic equipment, and collaboration with team members to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

  • Practice-based learning and improvement, empathy, and clinical judgement.
  • High School Diploma.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of GI Tech experience.
  • Willingness to travel to other GI Associates locations as needed to support operational needs throughout southeastern WI.

Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment pre-procedure.
  • Assist with post-procedure process under RN supervision.
  • Handle scopes, light sources and ancillary equipment properly.
  • Transport used equipment to reprocessing area after procedure.
  • Assist with room turn around/setup and cleaning of procedure rooms.
  • Maintain records/logs for high-level disinfection of endoscopic equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supply of chemicals and equipment for reprocessing.
  • Promote a patient- and employee-friendly environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Collaborate with GIA team members to optimize patient care.

Position Summary

Our Float/Pool GI Techs has the unique opportunity to contribute to a harmonious work environment by providing a balance of hands-on patient care while supporting our Team at GI Associates. The GI Technician is responsible for assisting in the collection of data for an objective assessment by the RN to identify the patient’s needs, problems, concerns or human responses. This position maintains responsibility for the scopes, and disinfecting instrumentation, pathology log, and collating post procedure information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for setting up equipment pre-procedure
  • Helps with post procedure process for patients under the supervision of RN
  • Knowledgeable of proper handling of equipment and materials (scopes, light sources, and ancillary equipment)
  • Transports used equipment post-procedure to the reprocessing room
  • Cleans equipment in conjunction with the OSHA guidelines
  • Helps maintain appropriate records/logs for the high-level disinfecting process of endoscopic equipment
  • Maintains adequate supply of chemicals and equipment for equipment reprocessing
  • Assists with room turn around/setup/cleaning of procedure rooms to optimize room efficiency
  • Assists in maintaining room stock/supplies
  • Transports patients as directed
  • Promotes an environment that is patient and employee friendly
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality pertaining to the patients right to privacy
  • Working collaboratively with GIA members to optimize patient care and be influential in maintaining a healthy team environment
  • Eager and willingness to learn and grow in the knowledge of GI Anatomy and Physiology, Disease
  • Complete all medical documentation efficiently in a timely manner
  • Recognize and respond to emergency care needs as per policy
  • Maintains safe work environment
Minimum Requirements
