Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide therapy under the plan of care in outpatient clinics in the Erie region. This float position supports coverage across multiple sites and directly collaborates with physical therapists and staff to maintain quality patient care.

The PTA will supervise clinical staff, document services, participate in meetings, and rotate between treatment areas as needed to meet productivity standards. CPR/BLS and required clearances must be maintained.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a PTA program accredited by the APTA.
• Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
• Licensure and clearances listed: CPR, BLS, Act 33/34/73 FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in staff meetings and development programs.
• Supervises clinical support staff per Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• Completes charge/statistical information accurately reflecting services rendered.
• Provides therapeutic interventions based on PT plans for all ages.
• Assists PTs in patient surveys within scope of practice.
• Maintains comprehensive written/electronic documentation of services.
• Rotates through treatment areas/facilities as needed.
• Provides objective feedback to supervisors on department performance.
• Schedules to meet facility productivity standards.
• Implements treatment programs per PT plans and adjusts as needed.

Job description

Provides physical therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Recommends changes in treatment plan to the supervising physical therapist based upon the patient's condition and response to treatment. Maintains work area in a neat, orderly fashion. Directs therapy volunteers. Performs clerical responsibilities as required by the facility. Transports patients as necessary in a safe, comfortable, courteous, timely and professional manner via prescribed transport vehicles.

This is a float position that will assist with coverage of our outpatient clinics in the Erie region.

• Schedules to meet or exceed facility productivity standards.
• Implements treatment programs per physical therapist plans, adjusting as needed based on patient response and medical status.
• Graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association with an associates degree as a physical therapist assistant.
• Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer serviceLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Physical Therapist Assistant OR Physical Therapist Assistant Indirect Supervision
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
