Job summary

One Community Health is seeking a patient services associate to provide information and services to patients at our Sacramento clinics. This on-site role operates across Midtown, Carmichael, and Arden locations and requires flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities include verifying demographics and insurance, communicating wait times, handling co-pays, and maintaining confidentiality while assisting patients and providers to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years previous medical secretarial/office experience.
• Active CPR, BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and courteously provide information and services requested by patients.
• Seek assistance when needed and keep patients informed to minimize inconvenience.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Communicate appointment delays and wait times to patients.
• Verify insurance eligibility and co-payment.
• Handle daily batch collections, receipts, and card authorizations as needed.
• Explain terms of services and financial responsibility.
• Answer phones as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

3 years medical secretarial/office experience

Active CPR, BLS Certification

This position serves as a resident expert in their area of support by providing an environment of good will and optimum services to patients and clients.

This role is on-site (100%) in Sacramento, CA (95811).

NOTE:

This float position provides assistance across all One Community Health sites, including Midtown (95811), Carmichael (95608), and Arden (95825). Candidates must be flexible and able to work at any of these locations based on clinic and patient care needs. The schedule may vary and requires flexibility to work within the following operating hours.

• Monday - Thursday: 7:45am - 7:00pm


• Friday: 7:45am - 6:00pm


• Saturday: 8:45am - 5:00pm

Essential Functions

• Promptly and courteously provides the information and services requested by patient.


• Takes initiative to seek assistance from others; informs patient/clients of the need to do so; explains who is being called upon to help; and ensures that all patient/clients requests are addressed in a way which minimizes inconveniences of all parties.


• Maintain strict patient/clients confidentiality at all times.


• Verify and update patient demographic information and insurance information.


• Communicate appointment delays effectively with patients and providers; apprise patients of wait times, delays, etc.


• Verify patient insurance eligibility and co-payment. (HMO's, PPO's, Managed Care)


• Create daily batch and collect co-pay, provide receipt, and obtain credit/debit card authorization as needed.


• Explain terms and conditions of services and financial responsibility


• Answers phones as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required


• 3 years previous medical secretarial/office experience required.


• Active CPR, BLS Certification.
